Asilo di Orria

The new Orria nursery was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a safe, welcoming space in harmony with the environment, where children can be educated in freedom, beauty and respect.

Surrounded by greenery and easily accessible thanks to a dedicated road, the nursery is set back from the traffic of the SP264, offering everyone who spends time there daily a sense of peace, natural light and an open view over the valley of the Fiumara della Selva de Santi.

A single storey, clean lines and square volumes that blend into the landscape: everything is designed to help little ones feel at home. The routes through the building are clear and intuitive, leading to shaded courtyards for outdoor play in summer, while large windows let in natural light even in winter, making every corner feel warmer and more alive.

Thanks to a passive bioclimatic strategy, the nursery reduces energy use and ensures year-round comfort: insulated walls, natural and renewable materials, and careful attention to air quality and acoustic comfort.

The indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to encourage play, curiosity, collaboration and inclusion, embracing diversity as a strength. In this way, the new nursery becomes an active part of the community: a tangible sign that education is not only about passing on knowledge, but about building freedom, care and a sense of belonging together.
