From the scale of regional development policies and urban design development to the applications in communication strategy and app development, CAIRE Consorzio is sitting on the shoulders of giants, pushing forward a professional militancy started in 1947.
CAIRE Consorzio is the result of eighty years of passion for design.
From post-war Italy to today’s post-globalization Europe, our corporate structure has evolved through collaborations, mergers, and alliances placing the disciplines of territorial development, planning, and design at the service of society and the planet.
Our story began with the Cooperative Architetti e Ingegneri Reggio Emilia, founded in 1947, Europe’s first cooperative company comprising of professional consultants. Among other services, CAIRE delivered Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Socio-Economic Impact Assessment as well as Urban Design.
In 1997, CAIRE Urbanistica was created to specialise the portfolio of services towards urban design and urban regeneration. CAIRE Urbanistica was among the founders of Archivio Osvaldo Piacentini.
In 2015 the company broadened up again the services in joint venture with Cooprogetti – a leading multinational engineering company with offices throughout Italy and South America – forming Consorzio Stabile CAIRE.
In 2021 Consorzio Stabile CAIRE acquired the London based Design firm Marcel Mauer Architecture, extending its services to include interior design, retail design, exhibition design and furniture design.
In 2023, we created Vanda + Marcel in collaboration with design Italian / Spanish studio Vanda Designers as a co-branding project specialised in Retail Design.
In 2025 Consorzio Stabile CAIRE became Consorzio CAIRE. Our journey has seen phases of multidisciplinary expansion as well as moments of focused specialisation. All along, our dedication for bespoke solutions and positive impact has grown from strength to strength.
